A little bit about Schaefer Training Academy

Location:Schaefer Training is located within a ranch setting, approximately 12 miles east of Lockhart.  Copy and paste map located below.

Training: Extensive active law enforcement experience, as well as degrees in psychology and criminal justice. 

Experience/Achievements: Tom retired as a Sergeant after 26 years with the Austin Police Department . In addition, to his experience as a detective and patrol officer, he has also instructed cadets and officers in in-service training. This included defensive tactics, firearms training, high speed driving, family violence, and search and seizure. While on active duty he was a competitor on the APD Police pistol team in the sport of PPC. 

Personal: Tom owns and operates  the Schaefer Training Academy, a private training facility near Lockhart Texas

Firing Range: A professional range, nestled within the raw beauty of the Texas back country. The quiet environment allows the student to learn in a comfortable setting, with the most professional instruction available. Your experience will be memorable and beneficial.

Classroom: Schaefer Training Academy focuses on the needs and concerns of the individual, with open discussion encouraged at all times. 

Personal Attention: Schaefer Training will arrange for private sessions at any time.

Personal Improvement: For those wishing to polish their firearm handling skills, marksmanship, and technique, Schaefer Training can assist with years of professional/Police firearm training. The goal is for all students to walk away with confidence, professional skill levels, and proficiency. Schaefer Training provides expert assessment and instruction in all levels of firearms training.

Firing Range Use: The firing range at Schaefer Training is available for students and alumni to use to polish their skills prior to certification, and to maintain proficiency after certification is complete. This service is provided free of charge!
